ARM Conducted Programs on drugs and alcohol De-addiction Program was conducted amongst Schools, Colleges, Self help groups and sex worker communities and Auto Drivers & Truck drivers. These programs are customized according to the program participants and are aimed towards minimizing the abuse of drugs & alcohol encouraging addicts/dependents to access treatment.
An Anti Drug awareness program was conducted in the school of Infant Jesus Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Rettery. They divided the students into boys and girls in separate classrooms so that they feel comfortable and share their views on topics that are to be discussed without hesitation. Our ARM Staff Mrs R. Abirami created awareness on the ill-effects of drug and alcohol conception in a comprehensive manner. And motivation speech and also given for de-addiction counseling.
An Anti Drug awareness program was conducted in the Cora Parking Trucking point at Poonamallee High Road. Our ARM Staff Mr Parthasarathy created awareness on the ill-effects of drug and alcohol conception in a comprehensive manner. And motivation speech and our Counsellor given counseling for de-addiction.
De-Addiction awareness were given to auto drivers, truck Drivers, Woman Self help group, Cine Fane Association members and Youth groups in both Urban and Rural areas. Of Kallakurichi & Villipuram Districts. In addition to that Collage students awareness program was also conducted on De-Addiction and related services to community.
De-addiction awareness and counseling programmes were carried out at Kallakurichi, Villupuram and North Chennai to the needy people at their doorsteps. ARM is committed to preventing the ill-effects of alcohol in the families in the district and hence provided counseling to various people in urban and rural areas. The men fallen prey to the habit of alcohol, have no ability to get out of it and need counseling and awareness on de addiction.
Hence ARM is engaged in this program in Kallakurichi & Villupuram, by counseling the men and referring them to de addiction centers run by NGOs through government support. During the year more than 1108 men received counseling from our counselors. The counseling sessions provided by the organization has helped 522 men to come out of the habit, during this period.
Tobacco control program was implemented by ARM to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to reduce the consumption of tobacco in Chennai district. AFTC has been engaged in tobacco control advocacy efforts in the country for the past several years, particularly in advocating a comprehensive tobacco control law. ARM was able to prevent use of tobacco by people, by conducting 18 programs in rural and urban areas during the financial period, 2022-2023.
We have taken the project "Corona prevention and control project" with the support of Greater Chennai Corporation. We are covering Perambur and Sharma Nagar UPHC's at Zone IV with the population covers of 66000. 52 staffs are actively involved in the work, creating awareness for behaviour change for Hand wash, compulsory wearing mask and maintaining the social distance for Corona prevention. Regular Fever Camp and medical check up are conducted and referring cases for Corona Test. 950 people are referred and more than 478 people were tested. We have identified 73 Corona cases and they were fully treated.
The Project dedicated to eliminating poverty housing in Tamilnadu by providing assistance to build simple, decent, affordable houses to the poor who lack adequate shelter, irrespective at caste, creed. Class, religion or any other difference. We selected Kargil vetri Nagar in Thiruvottiyur which was worst affected by the flood during the year 2015. 10 New houses were built at Ramanathapuram, 150 sanitation units and 25 Repair and Renovation houses were built at kargil Vetri Nagar. The Project was supported by Habitat for Humanity India funded by EICHER Company through their CSR programme. All the 185 families are very happy and leading decent life in their location.
ARM is running a shelter home for homeless people at Zone 2 Mathur Corporation of Chennai. A shelter home has been started at Mathur for 30 homeless men. The project has been started from June 2013. The Zone II officials of Corporation of Chennai monitor the services provided by our organization. We provide services such as counseling, personal hygiene, health care, food and nutrition and referral for employment opportunities and livelihood promotion. Recreational facilities like television and newspapers, magazines and play materials are provided at the home. A Project Coordinator, a Counselor, a caretaker cum cook and two security guards are engaged to run and maintain the shelter home for the homeless people. The shelter is functioning with full satisfaction of the beneficiaries and officials of the Corporation of Chennai. Festivals like Deepavalli, Pongal, Christmas and New Year are celebrated at the center for the residents with the support of local government officials, leaders well-wishers, Industrialist and Politicians. Currently There are 35 residents are provided best services to lead the quality of life at the shelter.
ARM- VIHAAN Care and Support Centre for PLHIV was established at Part town, Chennai since June 2013, with the support of Alliance India through Tamilnadu Network of Positive People (TNP+) Chennai. Arm CSC is working in all over the North Chennai area registering the PLHIV’s for their support and empowerment. During the financial year 2016 – 2017 we registered totally 3102 PLHIV through the coordination with the ART centre of Rajiv Gandhi General Hospital. The ARM staff and government hospital officials were providing very good support in carrying out the services for the PLHIVs in our target area.
In Villupuram district, the Link Worker Scheme (LWS) was implemented by Association for Rural Mass India (ARM) from Dec 2009 in 100 selected vulnerable villages throughout the district. We are Covering 22 Blocks at Villupuram District to cover the high risk population, Vulnerable population , Bridge Population and Migrants. Targeted intervention at North Chennai.
Intervention Project for Most at Risk Populations(MSM & FSWs) at North Chennai and Villupuram District
The Targeted intervention among Most at risk population is covering 1800 population at North Chennai that consists of 800 MSM and 1000 FSWs. The target population is situated at 7 clusters of North Chennai covering 60 hotspots. The Key Achievements of the project were: improved HRG coverage, Minimizing duplication towards elimination, High service utilization among the community, Efficiency in Outreach, Proper allocation of resources, Clarity on Roles & Responsibility of the Outreach Worker, Peer Educators, M&E, and Counselor, Community Ownership and Active participation of Peer Educators.
The year 2017-18 registered impressive results in almost every task of the project. This year ARM had great opportunity through CHILDLINE to extend its service to the children and their rehabilitation for various issues. The continued effort of the staffs, parent’s cooperation, kind hearted callers who wish children care, allied stake holders with whose valuable contribution made achieved success of all the goals set by CHILDLINE 1098 as Collab at Villupuram and Sub Centre at Ullunthurpet during the year 2017-18.
This Projects has been supported by Child Iine India Foundation through ministry of women and child development Government of india. This Projects aims to prevent child marriage, child labour, begging, Child sexsual abuses, child trafficking and involving for quality education and safe accomodation of the children.
The staffs spent their maximum time to deliver CHILDLINE activities to all kind of community in the district by their outreach activity. Every month child line team covered 25 SHGs, 25 Panchayats, 15 Panchayat schools and around six thousand individuals through awareness programs. Throughout the year this activities carried out by the team and it was reflecting in the form of increased number of calls to 1098. These outreach activities not only in the villages, in town areas team joining with auto drivers meeting, SSA’s meeting and exposing CHILDLINE activities during these meetings.
1. TCIT from TATA Sustainability Group Companies supported the Night Shelter run for the Homeless Men at Zone II, Manali, Corporation of Chennai. TCIT helped to purchase meterials and to develop Infrostructure for the well being of the Homeless People through CSR Concept.
2. EICHER Company through Habitat for Humanity India Supported to build 150 Sanitation units, 25 Repair and Renevation of Houses and 10 New Houses at Kargilvetri Nagar, Ramanathapuram at Thiruvallur District and we completed the project to fullest satisfaction of the beneficieries.
Unique event of Transgender Koovagam festival is continuesly conducted for the past 20 years at Villupuram and Koovagam village. Transgender across the country more than 25,000 communities participate in the function. AIDS awareness, Empowerment rights and health promotion activites are focused in the events.
ARM has been identified and selected as best practice and learning site by the Tamilnadu state AIDS control society. The NGOs and CBOs across the country and delecate from foreign countries are refered to our Organisation to learn the best practices in the HIV/AIDS prevention and control sector more than 2750 delegates were learned and expossed to the quality intervention for replication.
ARM initiated the community Development and Health promotion activities at Ramanathapuram District. we conducted awareness programmes at R.S Mangalam Block of this district. Child Rights and protection and HIV/AIDS prevention programmes were conducted at Girls Hr.Sec.School at R.S Mangalam. 15 volunteers were trained to take up community based activities in the block. Silugavayal ,Ramanathamadai colony,Rettaiyurani,Perumalmadai,Paranoor were the villages in which 5 youth groups and 7 women self help groups were formed for community development and health awareness activities . we have the Ramanathapuram district project office at R.S Mangalam.
