Association for Rural Mass India (ARM) is a non profit, non-governmental organization, working in the fields of health, community development & empowerment and capacity building activities. It was registered in the year 1993 as a Society under Societies Registration Act of Tamilnadu 1975.
ARM is formed by experienced and professional social workers. The organization is involved in various community development programmes dedicating itself to work with the most vulnerable and stigmatized sections of the society in urban as well as in rural areas. The organization encourages the people to take ownership of all its programs, so that all its development-oriented programmes become "of the people, by the people and for the people".
The organization has more than 25 years of experience in the field of community development and health promotion. ARM is managed by professional social workers and team of development specialist. It is currently working in Villupuram, Thiruvallur, Ramanathapuram and Chennai districts of Tamilnadu State.
Mr. Rodger Federer Number one World Tennis Player visited our Villupuram office as UNICEF ambassador to witness the outcome of the Out of School youth Health promotion programme and appreciated the performance of our Organization during the year 2008.
In the year 2004 Mr. William Gates father of Mr. Bill Gates visited our office to understand the STI, HIV/AIDS prevention programme among high risk population at North Chennai.
Mr. Bill Gates and Mrs. Melinda Gates number on richest person in the world visited our organization and interacted with High risk groups during the year 2005 at Porur Chennai office and highly appreciated the HIV prevention intervention program supported by them.
Association for Rural Mass India (ARM) will join the underprivileged in the struggle to attain Human Rights, Health Rights and women’s Rights by developing, strengthening and sustaining people’s structures so that the plans and policies of the government is a reflection of peoples’ action in the process of creating a just society.
The Association for Rural Mass India (ARM) is committed to spreading awareness about diseases that affect local communities, through the use of novel strategies and tools that are culture and gender sensitive. ARM works to bring about a behavior change among the vulnerable communities it works with in an effort to protect them from diseases and to provide access to quality treatment and care.
